Break out the sunscreen, Summer has arrived.

Dear Member,

We hope you have been safe and well during these unimaginable times. With the arrival of the warm temperatures and sunshine come thoughts of summer. We want to share with you recommendations from the Mayo Clinic and the National Council on Aging for people to stay active and healthy this season:

Exercise: It is recommended to get 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week. Moderate aerobic exercise includes activities such as brisk walking, swimming and mowing the lawn. Being active for short periods of time throughout the day can add up to provide health benefits.

Stand Up: Did you know reducing sitting time is important, too? The more hours you sit each day, the higher your risk of metabolic problems. Too much sitting can negatively impact your health and longevity, even if you get the recommended amount of daily physical activity.

Hydrate: Be sure to up your water intake as the temperatures rise. Dehydration even in its mildest form can drain your energy and make you tired.

Nutrition: Giving your body the right nutrients and maintaining a healthy weight can help you stay active and independent. This can result in less time and money you spend at the doctor.
